Why do people hate sephiroth

He isn't out to destroy the world for the sake of destroying it. Case of the Lifestream Black even tells us that Sephiroth is so far gone, he no longer considers memories of his appearance or friends "important," and shed them to cause Geostigma. This leads to another startling revelation:. Not only has he conqueored Jenova, he's become a far more dangerous cosmic horror than it ever was.

This is really a rather unique take on the whole eldritch abomination Trope. Because Sephiroth is capable of planning and willpower, he wins out in the end. He can also make much more effective use of Jenova's powers. An enduring mystery is why he considers Jenova his mother. Most likely, he feels he has more in common with it than humanity. The reason Sephiroth rebelled is likely that he was sick of being used by Shinra.

Before Crisis and Crisis Core establish that the President basically used Sephiroth as his personal bodyguard, and we know that Sephiroth wants to see Cloud suffer because he defeated him at Nibelheim. Then there's his sadism. He doesn't want Cloud to die. He wants to see him suffer. He manipulates Cloud throughout the entire game, not because he has to, but because it's necessary to render Cloud non-functional.

He broke the hero, a feat practically unheard of for even the best villains. Which is another trait that Sephiroth doesn't often get credit for: He's a Magnificent Bastard. The characters followed him across the world because he wanted them to.

He wanted them to get the Black Materia, and they did. He wanted Aerith to come to the Forgotten City alone. He even turned the Weapons on his enemies with the simple act of erecting a barrier. Sephiroth's most dangerous weapon is his mind, not his Masamune. He also has a disturbing tendency to draw upon horror movie tropes.

Perhaps the most impressive thing about Sephiroth is the sheer amount of thought put into his character. A lot of FF villains used symbolism, but it is most relevent when Sephiroth uses it. We know he can transform himself with Jenova cells, so we see Safer Sephiroth as saying, "I am a God now. His existence in the Lifestream is referred to as being analogous to Hell at one point.

There is a lot more to this subject, but I'm trying to keep this comment as brief as possible, while still communicating the point. While by no means uncommon today, it was also rather unique to have a villain who was blatantly stronger than the protagonists. He barely puts any efforts into his fights and easily counters all of his adversaries.

Here's where we get to see the biggest flaw with his character: He always falls due to his own pride. So, what was the point of all of that gushing? Sephiroth is not "overrated. He is not recognized enough in this regard. Exploration of the reactor led Sephiroth to question his own origins and seek answers. Sephiroth proceeded back to the reactor to claim the head of Jenova, his biological mother, at which time he impaled Tifa, before battling Cloud for the first time.

Together, they pushed past the barriers of self-deception and trauma that had obfuscated his memories. The events were mostly accurate, but she did not remember Cloud being there. Casting aside false memories, they learned that Cloud had been present as one of the masked support troops accompanying Zack and Sephiroth to Nibelheim. When Cloud shows resistance, Sephiroth uses his super long Masamune to do what super long swords do — impale her. Killing Aerith was horrible for obvious reasons, but it might not be the most evil act committed by Sephiroth.

What could be worse? Killing everyone. In his first act of control over Cloud, Sephiroth forces Cloud to give him the Black Materia which can be used to summon Meteor — a giant meteor which will crash into the planet and destroy it.

While Sephiroth successfully summons Meteor, the player party is able to defeat him at the North Crater , releasing the spell Holy which ultimately defeats Meteor and saves the planet. Sounds like a happy ending, right? Fueled by hatred, Sephiroth refused to be completely dissolved into the Lifestream and used it as a vehicle to spread his essence. The resulting effect of this process is known as Geostigma. In the film Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children, we see Geostigma affecting the masses by means of skin sores and fatigue, with the dispersed Jenova cells ultimately killing many of its victims.

It is revealed that Cloud also has the disease. With the disappearance of Sephiroth, the main antagonists through most of Advent Children are the three brothers Kadaj, Loz, and Yazoo.

Unbeknownst to them, they are being manipulated by Sephiroth from the Lifestream. Upon being defeated by Cloud, Sephiroth disappears, leaving Kadaj behind to die in his stead. This scene reveals that Kadaj was ultimately a tool used by Sephiroth, misled into seeking for more.

Eternals has a post-credit scene, but it's one that left many scratching their heads. Some fandoms or communities always feel rejected and disappointed by the newest DLC character.
