What is the difference between fellowship and relationship

Sometimes we obey God with a pure heart, but other times we live in open rebellion. What does this mean? It indicates the fact that there is a difference between eternal positional truth and every day, conditional fellowship.

Positional truth encompasses those facts which are eternally set in stone when it comes to my position before God. My standing before Him can never change. Once I place my faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ, certain facts become true of me forever. And these are just a few examples of what becomes true of us at the moment of our salvation!

Positional truth is unchanging and certain. It brings security and identity to our lives. Conditional fellowship, on the other hand, can change from day to day. My intimacy, or friendship, with the Lord can fluctuate constantly. Sometimes I am walking by faith and keeping my eyes on him.

Other times I am trying to live life in my own strength and I sin. Sometimes I am engaging in friendship with him, and other times I ignore and rebel against him. Like any human friendship, our connection can be either damaged or encouraged, depending on my attitude and actions. Nothing either he or I can do, say, or desire can change the fact that I am genetically connected to him. Our friendship, however, is a different story. It can be. God wants to have a relationship with you right where you are.

He wants to meet you right where you are and help you grow from there. How much do you have in common? If you focus on all the doctrinal differences and denominational divisions, then Satan wins by diverting your attention. But, if you focus on Christ in us, the hope of glory, then Jesus Christ wins because he is all, and in all, and in you all, if you have accepted him as your Lord and Savior.

Please read verses on walking with one another about building relationships and maintaining relationships with fellow Christians. Books, tapes, messages, posters all referred to the paracletos gr. It is also his name. The difference between the two is quantum, minuscule. But, the change to the level of intimacy and understanding is immense.

So you need to use it properly and with the respect that it deserves. How do you think that would change the depth of that relationship? Now consider that the third person of the trinity has come to live deep within you and you have just learned his true name; how does that affect you and how you speak about him?

I linger on this point intentionally. Because it is the familial relationship, with God, through Jesus and Holy Spirit, that drives us to seek a deeper life in the Spirit. The fact that much of the church is ignorant of the importance of understanding the primaeval role of blood covenants in human history can be seen to play out in world affairs, such as in the middle-east conflict.

Fellowship or koinonia in the greek refers to a broader interaction than intimate fellowship. It denotes Communion with, which is where we get the concept of community from; partnership, to work alongside with; fellowship; friendship; association with; all of which we are called to have with God, through the work of Holy Spirit.

We are called to understand that when one part of the body hurts, we all hurt when one part of the body rejoices we all rejoice. This is the centralised concept of the truth behind the teaching that we are all part of the same body, each having its own part to play. But, even further, it is a reminder that we are supposed to look out for one another and regard our treatment of one another, in the same manner we would like to be treated.

Getting back to the subject of our relationship with God is the essential first step to becoming effective in the work that we are called to do, personally, in the world at our fingertips. Not every person in the church is called to public office.
